The Peking University Experimental School in Jiaxing, in Zhejiang Province not far from Hangzhou, is a well-known school that prepares students for international education in USA or Europe later in his/her life. Building skills of the students in the English language is the key priority.
After my presentation on Global warming, I asked a student of about 8-9 years old, “What was my presentation about?”. He, to my surprise, responded correctly ‘Climate Change’. My presentation was was really meant for and addressed to his seniors in high school, to the students of 16-18 years old. However, this the younger student had come for the event just out of curiosity, probably with his parents or elder brother or sister. His correct answer gave me very smoothening feedback.
I got the signal that my presentation has been understood!
After the presentation, one of the students asked me, how one can keep becoming rich faster and at the same time control global warming?
I thought that it is the question that has the answer to why global warming is proceeding at a faster rate than our actions to prevent it. The pursuit of getting rich faster by any means has landed us in the present situation. Indiscriminate consumption of natural resources and scant regards for resources are the drivers of the climate crisis. I thought for a moment can this Peking Experimental School can carry out experiments in sustainable living?
